Cambodia

Leaving you breathless
One could say, that Cambodia hasn’t much to offer- but what it has to offer is of epic proportions and definitely leaving even experienced travelers in awe.

The gigantic temples of Angkor Wat, the national symbol of Cambodia, makes you speechless by it’s sheer size. Other temples in the huge national park are of such delicacy, that they make you wonder, how stonemasons, thousands of years ago, were able to carve pictures like these into the stone.

There are some nice beaches around Sihanoukville and you will find some nightlife here and there- but Cambodia is all about culture and history, whether at Angkor or in the cities of Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.

Things to see and do

  • Temples of Angkor: traveling to Cambodia and not visiting the temples would be a complete waste of time. You should plan at least 2 or 3 days for a complete tour.

Laos

All the charm of Asia
Going to Laos is a little like time- traveling. In some places, it seems like time just took a break or is taking it very easy, going on. You will experience a lot of the “Asian smile” and the friendliness that has vanished from other places. The country may not be as rich as its neighbors, but it is rich in culture and full of interesting stories.

Things to see and do

  • Luang Prabang: the temples of this small city are part of the UNESCO World Heritage and no less impressive than the ones in Angkor, Sukhothai or Ayutthaya.
  • Vientiane: The capitol of Laos is full of small, interesting sights such as the Buddha Park or the Morning Market of Talat Sao.

Malaysia

A country between yesterday and tomorrow
Two worlds collide in Malaysia: the archaic, primal worlds of the jungle with headhunters and Orang Uthans and the rising, modern state, that made a giant step forward through the last decade.

Countless islands, nice beaches, a fascinating flora and fauna are meeting the future, when you travel into Kuala Lumpur, a relaxed and versatile metropolis where places like Little India and Chinatown, meet luxurious skyscrapers and melt into an interesting mix of cultures and sights.

Things to see and do

  • Kuala Lumpur: vibrant city with many interesting sights, in and around it. The relaxed version of an Asian metropolis.
  • Borneo: one of the last natural wonders on this planet, with plants and animals that are only to be found on this large island, including the “wild men” of Borneo, the Orang Uthans.
  • Langkawi: nice beaches, vibrant nightlife- perfect for a holiday retreat.

Myanmar

The torn “Golden Land”
In Myanmar almost everything that glitters is actually gold. And although things have changed for the better in the last few years, it would be a failure not to mention the problems, the country still has. But even if the problems are visible, the traveler will be embraced with a friendliness that has no comparison. Myanmar is a country where the spirit of Asia and all it’s myths and secrets are still very much alive. And if you are looking for nice and almost unspoiled beaches…look no further: you will find them in Myanmar.

Things to see and do

  • Bagan: In an area of 36 sqkm there are more than 5.000 temple- ruins to be discovered. The former center of a vast kingdom offer almost magical sights.
  • Lake Inle: In the center of the Shan- district, you will find this jewel of natural grace. The huge lake is home to many aquatic animals and birds and the people of Lake Inle still live a life like hundreds of years ago and follow their own traditional ways of life.

Vietnam

Experience the pristine Asia
If you know Vietnam mostly from the movies, you are in for a surprise. Sure: the Vietnam War is present in many places and sights, but Vietnam is clearly on the path into the future. Rising cities and a ever growing infrastructure turn Vietnam into a popular destination. But you will also experience the “original” Asia, effected by friendly people, a deep religious feeling and century old traditions.

Vietnam’s beaches are also popular and famous destinations by now.

Things to see and do

  • Halong Bay: without a doubt, one of the most impressive landscapes on this planet. More than 3.000 limestone islands spread out over the bay and look like dragons from ancient tales.
  • Ho Chi Min City and Hanoi: cities on the rise, with a lot of Asian flair and many sights from the near and distant past.
