Continue to Mae Malai Market, where local Thai agriculture products are sold- some of which you will never see in a big city. Next on the schedule is a visit to an elephant camp; enjoy an hour on the back of the grey giants, carrying you through the lush green of the tropical rain forest- on the way back to the camp, you will also ride in an ox cart. Lunch will be served in the camp, before you drive up to the rafting camp. After a quick safety instruction, you will find yourself paddling down the rapids of the Mae Taeng River in a rubber boat. After approx. 45 minutes of fun, proceed to the Hmong Hill Tribe Lodge, check in, enjoy a BBQ dinner and Hmong Hill Tribe- dance performance and overnight at the lodge..
Day 2, Hmong Hilltribe (B/L/D)
Enjoy your breakfast before taking a short trip to visit the local farmers village, Ban Mae Paa. After that, get on your bike and cycle from Ban Mae Paa village to Ban Pohng Gwao village- if you feel up to the task, you may take the circle route, up to Mae Pban irrigation reservoir, or end up to Pohng Gwao hot spring- which means approx. 10-12 kilometers cycling. Cycling is one of the best ways to get in touch with the local people. Picnic lunch is served on the way. After a lunch- break, drive up to Ban Nhong Hoi Mai Village, where the Hmong tribe people have settled down, over 40 years ago. The village is located more than 1000 meters above sea level, so the tribe- people had to learn a special kind of highland- agriculture. You may also take a hike of 1,5 hours to Ban Mae Khi, before the van takes you back to the lodge, for an afternoons rest. In the early evening, join a short Thai cooking course. Prepare, cook, serve and eat your own dinner, before overnight at the lodge.
Note: Cycling and hiking can be arranged, up to your skills and convenience, morning or afternoon, down- or uphill.
